Dingledein Bakery – New Cumberland

On Tuesday May 22, 2012 we decided to try out Dingledein Bakery at 316 Bridge Street in New Cumberland. This awesome bakery has been a New Cumberland landmark for 18 years and in March 2012 they started serving breakfast. Located in the downtown area, across the street from Coakley’s, with free on street parking, this turned out to be a great place. When you enter you mostly see the baked goods in glass cases but if you look around the interior is actually very large with lots of table seating. The layout is also nicely done so that it’s not crowded, there is privacy if you prefer it.

They took great care of us, getting our drinks and order very promptly and the food came out quickly, but not before we noticed how nicely everything was decorated, very well put together.

We both ordered our standard 2 eggs, potatoes and meat, sausage and ham. Craig’s meal came with 4 sausage links, mine came with a nice thick slice of real ham, very good. Our breakfasts were priced at a reasonable $4.80 each and we were very satisfied. They had some nice omelets listed on the menu and all the baked goods looked soooo good, I’m sure we’ll be back to visit again. By the way, every person who worked there was extremely nice to us, looked after us and genuinely cared, probably the best customer service we’ve seen anywhere. They open for breakfast at 6AM, not sure about the rest of their hours, but their phone number is 770-0466.

Hi Life Diner – Mechanicsburg

On Tuesday May 15 we stopped in to the Hi Life Diner in Mechanicsburg. Wow. it’s a good thing we were hungry. The waitress was great and took good care of us. The food came out quickly and we really got a plate full. Great eggs and toast, half a plate of potatoes and the Canadian Bacon was 3 thick slices each. Wow!
